Title: You Only Get One Chance
Aim: To practice reading skill and learning about new vocabularies in text. Moreover, practicing the imagination in choosing the way to solve the prblems.
Level: Intermediate and above.
Time: 50 minutes
Technical: One computer per two students, with Internet connection.
Preperation: Before the lesson, teacher read "You Only Get Chance" and find identify new words.
Procedure:
1. Tell the students that they are going to read passage "You Only Get Chance”
from email and tell them find a partner to read the passage together.
2. Explain the meaning of new words that students will see in the passage. Before beginning the activities and give clear meaning on them.
3. Tell students reading the passage in only 20 minutes. Then choosing the way to solve problem on their own.
4. After reading the passage, each group answers questions on sheet that teacher will distribute after finished the game. The questions are relevant with which way they’ve choosed to solve the problems.
5. Each group presents their solving problem in front of the class on their own language in 5 minutes. Then everybody in class voted which group is the best, and which group have to improve.
Follow up: From this game, students can learn new words. In addition, they can learn reading skill. Moreover, they can produce language on their own after understand the passage. Presentation in front of class is a good skill to develop a confidence of them.
Notes: After finished the game, teacher can present how did the teacher solve the problem in the game to be the example before students will present.
